5-Color Peacock Cichlid (Aulonocara sp. “Peacock Five Colors”)

The 5-Color Peacock Cichlid is a selected variety of Aulonocara, renowned for its vibrant hues blending electric blue, red, yellow, orange, and purple. It offers an exceptional color spectacle while maintaining a calmer temperament than Mbunas. It's an excellent choice for adding brilliance and elegance to an African cichlid aquarium.

Characteristics:

• Adult size: 12 to 15 cm

• Behavior: Territorial, but less aggressive than Mbunas

• Swimming zone: Mid to bottom

Water parameters:

• Temperature: 24 to 28 °C

• pH: 7.8 to 8.6

• GH: 10 to 20 °dGH

• KH: 8 to 12 °dKH

Tips:
Keep in a harem (1 male to 2-3 females) in an aquarium of 250 L or more. It prefers a sandy substrate with some rocks to delineate territories, but not excessively to avoid stressing it. Avoid very aggressive Mbunas as tankmates. It likes well-oxygenated and stable water.
