Mystery Snail (Pomacea bridgesii)
The Mystery Snail is a peaceful and ornamental helper for freshwater aquariums. Recognizable by its spiral shell in various colors (yellow, blue, ivory, purple, brown...), it moves slowly while cleaning the glass, plants, and decor of small algae or debris. It is fascinating to observe with its long siphons and mobile antennae.
Characteristics:
Adult size: Up to 5 to 6 cm
Behavior: Peaceful, solitary or in groups
Movement area: Bottom, glass, plants
Water parameters:
Temperature: 22 to 28 °C
pH: 7.0 to 8.0
GH: 8 to 20 °dGH (essential for shell strength)
KH: 4 to 12 °dKH
Tips:
Ideal for community aquariums, it cohabits well with peaceful fish. It does not eat healthy plants, but enjoys blanched vegetables (zucchini, spinach) as a supplement to its natural diet. It lays eggs out of the water, usually on the glass or lid, which do not hatch without specific conditions. Provide a lid to prevent escapes.
