Cardinal Tetras (Paracheirodon axelrodi) are freshwater fish appreciated for their vibrant beauty and lively schooling behaviors. Originally from South America, these fish have specific requirements in terms of temperature, pH, water hardness, behavior, and environment.
Cardinal Tetras thrive in tropical water temperatures between 23°C and 28°C. They prefer slightly acidic to neutral pH, ideally between 5.5 and 7.5. Total water hardness should be maintained between 2 and 10 dGH.
These small fish are known for their peaceful behavior, but they are also gregarious. They feel more comfortable and display natural behaviors when kept in groups of six or more individuals.
A well-planted environment with shaded areas and hiding places for a natural habitat, the rivers and tributaries of the Amazon rainforest. Ensure effective filtration to maintain good water quality, and perform regular water changes to prevent waste accumulation.
In summary, to care for Cardinal Tetras in your aquarium, ensure appropriate temperature, suitable pH, adequate water hardness, and keep them in a group in a well-planted environment.
