The Burmese Badis, also known as Badis ruber, is a small freshwater fish native to the clear, shallow rivers of Myanmar. Measuring about 5 to 6 cm when adult, it captivates with its subtle colors ranging from brick red to golden brown, often accentuated by metallic reflections. A calm and discreet fish, it is ideal for planted aquariums where it can explore and hide among roots and foliage.

The Burmese Badis is a carnivore that enjoys live or frozen prey such as daphnia, shrimp, or bloodworms. It can be picky with dry food. Territorial but not very aggressive, it is best kept with peaceful fish, and too lively companions should be avoided.

Due to its intriguing observational behavior and elegant appearance, it is often appreciated by aquarists who enjoy discreet but fascinating fish.
