Auratus Cichlid (Melanochromis auratus)
The Auratus Cichlid is a feisty Mbuna known for its stunning color contrasts. Females and juveniles display a golden yellow hue with black stripes, while adult males turn dark blue to black with pale lines. This spectacular transformation makes it a fascinating fish to observe. However, its highly territorial temperament requires careful attention to its cohabitation.

Tips:
Preferably keep in a dedicated Malawi tank of at least 250 L, with dense rock decor providing numerous hiding places to reduce conflicts. It is best to avoid keeping it with overly calm or timid species. Good filtration, structured decor, and a well-thought-out population are essential to limit aggression.
