Flourish Excel

All plants require a source of carbon, and the 4-liter size of Flourish Excel provides a simple source of readily assimilable organic carbon, which directly benefits the growth and overall development of a wide variety of aquatic plants. Carbon typically comes from CO₂, but it can also be derived from simple organic compounds, such as the photosynthetic intermediates found in this formula.

This does not mean that using one makes the other unnecessary, quite the opposite! Since the processes related to the production and use of photosynthetic intermediates occur simultaneously, aquarists can achieve remarkable results by combining Seachem Flourish Excel with CO₂ injection in the aquarium. This combination is particularly suitable for situations where continuous CO₂ addition could lead to a dangerous drop in pH in the tank.

Furthermore, Flourish Excel has effective iron-reducing properties, promoting the ferrous state of iron (Fe²⁺), which is much more easily absorbed by aquatic plants than ferric iron (Fe³⁺).

CO₂ is necessary for the production of complex carbon compounds called photosynthetic intermediates, such as ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate and 2-carboxy-3-keto-D-arabinitol-1,5-bisphosphate. In simple terms, Seachem Flourish Excel does not contain exactly these compounds, but very similar substances structurally, allowing you to bypass direct CO₂ addition by directly providing your aquatic plants with compounds that are already processed and beneficial to their health.
