The Tiger Guppy is a very popular guppy variety, known for its black tiger stripes on a bright yellow or orange background. It is a robust and easy-to-maintain tropical fish, ideal for both beginner and experienced aquarists. Males generally reach 3 to 4 cm, while females can measure 5 to 6 cm.
Ideal parameters:
-
Temperature: 22 to 28 °C (optimal around 25 °C)
-
pH: 6.8 to 7.8
-
Hardness: 8 to 20 °dGH
-
Minimum volume: 60 L for a small group (recommended ratio: 1 male for 2-3 females to avoid stress)
Active, social and peaceful, the Tiger Guppy thrives in a community tank with calm species. It prefers a planted aquarium with some clear areas for free swimming.
Diet: Omnivorous, it readily accepts flakes, micro-granules, and live or frozen foods, which particularly enhance its colors.
Reproduction: Very prolific, the Tiger Guppy is viviparous: females give birth to already formed fry. A well-planted tank or a nursery helps protect the young.
