Oranda are a variety of ornamental goldfish (Carassius auratus) highly appreciated in aquaristics for their unique appearance. They are distinguished by their “wen”, a fleshy growth on the head that develops with age and gives them a very particular look.
These fish are calm, social, and easy to keep, which makes them popular with both beginners and experienced aquarists. Oranda come in several colors: red, black, white, orange, calico or Red Cap (red head and white body).
They can reach 20 to 25 cm as adults and require a well-filtered aquarium with plenty of space and clean water. Like all goldfish, they produce a lot of waste and enjoy a varied diet: goldfish pellets, blanched vegetables, and occasional live food.
With their elegant shapes and long fins, Oranda are often considered one of the most majestic goldfish in an aquarium.
