The L104 Clown Pleco, or Panaqolus maccus, is a small catfish native to the Orinoco rivers in Venezuela. With its irregular light and dark brown striped patterns, it boasts a natural camouflage that earned it the nickname "Clown Pleco."
Peaceful by nature and reaching a size of about 10 to 12 cm, it is ideal for medium-sized aquariums, starting from 100 liters. It appreciates a decor rich in driftwood roots, essential for its diet, as it scrapes lignin to aid its digestion.
Mainly herbivorous, the Clown Pleco feeds on vegetables (zucchini, cucumber, sweet potato) and vegetable pellets, although it may also occasionally consume animal proteins.
Preferring soft, slightly acidic to neutral water (pH 6.5-7.5) with a temperature of 25 to 30°C, this robust fish is an excellent choice for aquarists looking for a small, active, and fascinating loricariid to observe.
