The L075 Pleco, also known as Peckoltia sabaji, is a freshwater catfish native to the Amazon basin, primarily in Brazil, Guyana, and Venezuela. This fish, popular among aquarists for its unique appearance, sports a brown coat marbled with lighter spots, providing excellent camouflage in its natural habitat.
Typically reaching a size of 15 to 20 cm in captivity, the L075 Pleco requires a spacious aquarium of at least 250 liters with numerous hiding places in the form of roots, rocks, and caves. Semi-territorial, it can coexist with other peaceful fish, but it is best to avoid overly aggressive congeners.
In terms of diet, this fish is omnivorous with a preference for plant-based foods and animal proteins. It enjoys blanched vegetables (zucchini, cucumber, spinach) as well as sinking pellets and proteins such as frozen shrimp or worms.
Preferring soft, slightly acidic water (pH 6.0-7.5) with a temperature between 24 and 28°C, the L075 Pleco is an excellent choice for aquarists seeking a loricariid with interesting behavior and remarkable design.
