The Redigobius balteatus, nicknamed the Rhino Horned Goby, is a small goby native to Southeast Asia and Oceania. It gets its name from the small frontal outgrowth that resembles a rhinoceros horn. Modest in size (4 to 5 cm), it is appreciated for its atypical appearance and peaceful nature. It is mainly found in coastal areas, estuaries, and slow-moving rivers, where it tirelessly explores the substrate in search of small prey. In an aquarium, it enjoys a sandy decor with hiding places and slightly brackish or well-oxygenated fresh water. Its rarity and singular appearance make it a sought-after fish by passionate aquarists.
