Flame Tetras, also known as Amanda's Tetras, are beautiful small tropical fish renowned for their vibrant orange-red hue. Originally from the Amazon basin, these fish add a lively touch to any community aquarium. Here's a guide to keeping them well:

Environment

  • Aquarium size: Minimum 20 liters for a small group, but a 50 liter or larger tank is ideal to offer them more space.
  • Decor: They appreciate a planted environment with hiding places. Add floating plants to dim the light and create a natural ambiance. Roots and branches enhance their natural habitat.

Flame Tetras are omnivorous and accept a wide variety of food:

  • Live and frozen foods: Shrimp, daphnia, microworms, mosquito larvae.
  • Dry foods: Quality flakes or pellets suitable for small fish.
  • Supplements: Vegetable food or spirulina to balance their diet.

Behavior

  • Social: These are schooling fish. Keep them in groups of at least 6 individuals (ideally 10 or more) to reduce stress and encourage natural behavior.
  • Compatibility: They coexist well with other small peaceful fish such as Rasboras, Dwarf Corydoras, and shrimp. Avoid species that are too large or aggressive.
  • Activity: Very active and curious, they mainly swim in the mid-water column and provide constant entertainment.

Important points

Flame Tetras are ideal for both beginner and experienced aquarists, as long as they are provided with clean and stable water. Ensure regular water changes to maintain their health and vibrant colors.

A great addition to any well-balanced tropical aquarium! 🌿🐠
